Stephanie qualified as a chartered physiotherapist in 2000 going on to specialise in paediatrics, she then qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 2008 with an MSc in Veterinary Physiotherapy. From which she had her research published in the Veterinary Journal “Kinetics of jump landing in agility dogs” in November 2010. Further to this Steph went on to working within central London in a hydrotherapy and specialist veterinary referral centre for neurology. This provided Steph with vast experience in Canine hydrotherapy and Neurology, whilst working within a veterinary multidisciplinary team. Stephanie also has experience with post surgical management and management of diseases such as Osteoarthritis. Stephanie does however enjoy all aspects of canine treatment from management of elderly and companion dogs through to management of top canine agility athletes.

Steph has given lectures throughout the country and treated horses across Europe. Within the equine community Steph specialises in the treatment of elite horses, primarily in racing and eventing, working as part of a multidisciplinary team with the trainer, vet, farrier and other relevant persons. Steph has been instrumental on advising on the integration of alternative training programmes in race horses and the use of laser acupuncture alongside musculoskeletal physiotherapy. She has also worked at many competitions supporting regular clients and GBR teams carrying out on site therapy to assist in recovery and athletic performance to maximise the achievements of both horse and rider.

"I thrive on the pressure at competitions and love being part of the team either winning at badminton, getting team / individual European gold medals or winning a high profile race that the horse has been targeted at. I also really love helping horses feel more comfortable and improving their performance, like Dolly the miniature Shetland after a bout of laminitis and when Wolfie completed his first ever competition."

Stephanie is currently spending her spare time retraining her rescued race horse and her rescued agility collie.

Amanda Sutton Hemingway

Amanda Hemingway (nee Sutton)

Chartered Physiotherapist MSc VetPhys, MCSP, HPC, ACPAT, Cat.A, Stott Pilates Instructor

Tel: 07951 736 031

After qualifying as a human chartered physiotherapist, Amanda worked at the Queen Elizabeth hospital in Birmingham, where she saw practice in neurological, orthopaedics and necks, backs and sports injuries. She also worked at the Alexander Stadium treating athletes. After a further 2 years Amanda commenced full time training in veterinary physiotherapy with Janet Ellis, MCSP, in Yorkshire.

After 2 years she set up her own human and animal practice in Winchester, attending competitions and working alongside the veterinary support to gain acute injury management of the sports horse. From there Amanda became the official Physio to several major horse riding events.

She was appointed Team Physiotherapist to the British Three Day event team from around 1994. Prior to this Amanda was Spain's Physio until the world games clashed with her wedding and she passed the job on to her assistant at the time.

Amanda was then asked to train many physiotherapists around the world. Fiona Doubleday, Anna Johnson, Sarah Cruickshank and Elle Tische are just a few. She was also asked to present at world conferences in Sweden, America, and Australia. ACPAT also developed the first professional training route in veterinary physiotherapy for Chartered physiotherapists. As the educational chair of ACPAT, Amanda was very involved.

Amanda undertook the first MSc in veterinary physiotherapy and later lectured on the course in 2002. Her post graduate experience has been with the late Anthony Pusey, with whom she worked with for many years treating dogs and horses at their clinic. More recently Amanda developed further skills with Sue Devereux, an acupuncturist vet and previously with Dietrich Graf Von Schweinitz MRCVS.

As an animal physiotherapist, Amanda always strives to be the best for the benefit of her clients. She has continued to learn and update her skills, remaining committed to always clinically reasoning and challenging her decisions and practice.

Amanda delivers movement based therapies for the horse and dog handlers, using Zenga and Stott Pilates. Her animal treatments and rehabilitation are for dogs, cats and other pets.

"My areas of particular interest are the treatment of the spine and associated soft tissues. The area hidden by the shoulder blades in the dog are vital for the freedom of motion in the rest of the spine and I have developed a treatment and rehabilitation approach for the spine at this level."

Amanda is available to meet at the ASAP mobile clinics or in the comfort of your home.
